Bridges
What is a dental bridge?
A dental bridge is a fixed solution used to replace one or more missing teeth. It quite literally “bridges” the gap by using the teeth on either side for support. A bridge looks, feels, and functions like natural teeth, helping you smile and eat with confidence again.
…
A bridge is made up of one or more artificial teeth (called pontics) that are anchored by crowns or attachments on the neighbouring natural teeth or dental implants. It’s securely fixed in place — unlike removable dentures — so you don’t take it out for cleaning.
The main benefits are:
- To improve aesthetic appearance of teeth or smile
- Improve ability to eat and chew food
- Improve speech
- Prevents surrounding teeth from shifting
The bridge process
Consultation and assessment – A check of your teeth, gums, and bite.
Tooth preparation – Supporting teeth are shaped to hold the bridge.
Impressions and temporary bridge – Moulds are taken and a temporary bridge is fitted while the final one is made.
Fitting your bridge – Your custom-made bridge is securely bonded in place.
